8 bit dissertation in the works?
There are blogs, and then there are splogs, also known as spam blogs. These are keyword stuffed blogs with BS entries to try and game the search engine results.
So when I got a Google alert about another blogspot site, I was skeptical. But 8bitdisertation is legit. It’s a blog, mostly for writing down thoughts and collecting links on the 8 bit music genre to help the writer’s dissertation. Adham, the owner, explains:
Fundamentally, the research will try to capture a snapshot of 8bit/Chiptune in the year 2007 and determine weather or not the genre an important artistic step in music capable of becoming a viable genre within the music industry, or a nostalgic waste of time written by geeks with nothing better to do (scathing!).
He also writes about genre theory, and what it takes for new genres to grow and succeed. It might be an interesting one to read and benefit from, both 8 bit genres and Nerdcore.
